DIY Friday: Short Hair Story
Shorty Short
- Start with clean, dry hair.
- Part your hair all the way around in a big horseshoe shape about 1- 1 1/2 inches above your ear. Clip that section up.
- French braid both sides and get them to meet in the middle in the back of your head. Take both of the loose ends and make a teeny tiny bun. If you need hairspray to make the bun stay, give it a little shot and then bobby pin. It’s TOTALLY okay if it’s a bit messy. It’s going to get covered up anyway.
- Let down all the hair from the section on top and take a bit of texturizing spray to it (we used THIS ONE )Tease the crown area for some volume and then smooth it over with your comb.
- Give the top layer a light veil of hairspray.
- Now start twisting the sides back as you see Ali doing in photo 7. Pin the twist to the braid as you go. NOTE: That’s the whole point of the braid! You’re using it to secure the hair! That’s the trick to getting short hair “up”, otherwise everything tends to fall out or not reach.
- Repeat the same twist + pin method to the other side. Secure the twist by pinning it to the braid as you go.
- Once both sections reach the back, roll those two “tails” you have left over from the twists. I prefer to roll upward, but you can roll sideways or down if you prefer. Just be sure to check your work in the mirror as you go. Look at it from the front, the back and the side to make sure it looks balanced! If you have a hard time rolling the leftover pieces (aka: if they’re too short) you can always just tuck them into the braid. If the hair is too soft, spray it a little with some hairspray. YOU CAN DO IT!
- Once you’re done, give it a good veil of a strong-hold hairspray.

One Pan Pasta: Easy to make and very healthy
Hi everyone,
This week Health Tuesday I will introduce you to this awesome recipe. Make a delicious and healthy pasta in just one pan. No need to worry about cleaning up after cooking, washing many different pots and pans.
Check this one out.
For full recipe, please follow this blog Marin Mama Cooks. She is awesome ! This recipe is orginally taken from Martha Stewart Living
What you will need:
What you have to do:
Get out a large straight-sided skillet pan and put in your pasta, tomatoes, red onion, garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, basil sprigs, olive oil and pour the in the 4 1/2 cups water. Pretty easy right? You’re truly throwing everything into the pan at the same time. Love it!
Turn up the heat to high and bring the water to a boil.
Let the water come to a full boil. You will see bubbles on the side of the pan at first, but wait untill you see bubbles all over the pan.
Once your water comes to a full boil, set your timer to 9 minutes. Stand by the stove and using tongs, lift and move the pasta around every so often so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
Test the pasta at 9 minutes and it should be al dente! Turn off the heat and give the pasta a few quick tosses. There will be some liquid at the bottom of the pan, but don’t fret, the liquid will thicken up and turn into a sauce. Doesn’t that pasta look fantastic
Serve up the pasta in large bowls and top with some shredded Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. The basil leaves really add that extra punch of flavor, so be sure to top everyone’s pasta with a few leaves. Pair this pasta with a nice green salad or some garlic bread.
Have fun and have a healthy Tuesday :)

For full recipe, please follow this blog Marin Mama Cooks. She is awesome ! This recipe is orginally taken from Martha Stewart Living
What you will need:
- 12 ounces linguine – I just used 3/4 of a 16-ounce box
- 12 ounces, which is about 3/4 of a pint of cherry or grape tomatoes, washed and halved
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 sprigs basil, plus some extra torn leaves for garnish
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin-olive oil
- 4 1/2 cups water
- freshly shredded parmesan cheese for topping the pasta
Get out a large straight-sided skillet pan and put in your pasta, tomatoes, red onion, garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, basil sprigs, olive oil and pour the in the 4 1/2 cups water. Pretty easy right? You’re truly throwing everything into the pan at the same time. Love it!

Once your water comes to a full boil, set your timer to 9 minutes. Stand by the stove and using tongs, lift and move the pasta around every so often so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
You will notice that most of the water is evaporating and getting thicker, and everything is starting to cook down like the tomatoes and the onions.

Are you eating the real food? This video will change your mind !!
Good morning everyone,
This Healthy Tuesday I want to talk about the truth about the food that we eat everyday.
I remember having a conversation with my uncle one time and he once told me the food is good nowsaday, they don't go bad as fast as the food we eat years ago. Little does he know, the food that goes bad less slowly is the one that is harming and weaken our immune system everyday.
Sadly, "those" kind of food is everywhere we do nowsaday. Fastfood is no longer the only bad food. The chicken you buy at the grocery store, the fruit you buy at the grocery store and maybe the milk and juice you buy at the grocery store, the potential threat is there.
Know what you buy and learn how to read the labels of your food will change your life in a whole different way and help you eat longer.
I recommend everyone to watch this video to learn how to eat right and live right. Stay healthy and stay informed !!!
Have a great Tuesday everyone :) !

Positive Thursday: Shape it or someone else will.
This is your world ! Shape it or someone else will !
Have you ever had a friend or known someone who doesn't have any control over his/her life? T
They blame life or other people for everything that happens to their life. They let life leads the way, go through day to day making excuses for what they can't do. I'm sure we all know someone like this. As the matter of fact, I used to be that person too.
I felt like it was always easier finding an excuse to justify for yourself and your action than actually face the challenges and overcome them. I blamed on the TV weather forecast when I get wet in the rain without an umbrella. I blamed on life being a bitch when something bad happened to me. I went through days and days like that without realizing I was physically alive, but wasn't really living.
Things changed when my dad decided to send me abroad when I was a month away from my 16th birthday for a better education and a better future. The first day I landed in Canada was also the first day I realized I could no longer live life the way I used to do. I was forced to leave my comfort zone to come out to the 'scary' world where I would have to fight the bad guys myself, I would have to take care of my own self and would have to take responsibility for all my actions, or, in other words, 'clean up my own mess if I happen to cause one'. I felt like I was being born again. No friends, no family and a little English. That's what I've got the day I came to Toronto for the first time.
I guess at that point, I started to realize that all I have was myself and noone else. This is the first chapter of my life (the real life) and I am holding the pen to write the rest of the story. And I asked myself, what kind of story I want to write about myself. Would I write a story where the leading character let life takes control of her life, or would I write a story where I could be as awesome as I want to be, take total control of my life and really show life "who is the boss?"
And I guess, my choice is clear.
Although coming out of the comfort zone you're so used to is not an easy task, it is not impossible.
Here is the list of things you have to remember:
1. Are you tired of letting life events get in your way? Stopping you from going to where you want to go or do things you want to do?
If the answer is YES! Today is the day to start the change.
2. Remember! Change is never easy. We take baby steps to learn how to walk, so don't expect an overnight change if you are about to take this change seriously.
3. Startting by learning how to take responsibility for your small and everyday actions instead of depending or blaming on someone.
If you are hanging out with the friends who can't help you grow and develop in any kind of way and you let them have a large impact on your everyday life. It's your fault.
But it's also your choice to move on, go out to the world and open your eyes to new people, make new friends or locking yourself in the room, crying and asking yourself why people always disappoint you.
4. Remember! When it rains, it doesn't rain on a few. And when it shines, it doesnt shine just on you.
Everybody is going through some kind of hardship everyday trying to write their own story just like you. Some has less, some has more. But if all of them all let life get in the way and give up because of the excuses they make for themselves let them get away with it, we will have no Bill Gates, no Steve Jobs, no Oprah. Own it for yourself.
5. Admitting it was your fault and move on is actually easier than blaming it on someone else
Yes, this is so true and you WILL learn ! It is actually easier dealing with your own self and it is easier to forgive yourself than trying to blame it on someone else because you can never get over it. There is always a feeling that that person is owing you something and the case can't just be closed.
Now that you know this, go out there and change your life !!!!
This is my story, what is yours ?
Actually if you live in Toronto, go out there and enjoy the gorgeous weather too !!!
XOXO
Tracey
